The identification of employees and visitors is now standard operating procedure in many organizations and companies. "Smart cards" or ID cards are increasingly being used for this purpose. The technology embedded in these cards enables their holders to use them for a range of purposes. Examples include: access control; locker management; managed photocopying; and payment in company canteens or at vending machines. These ID cards and the associated assignment of rights to them must be managed carefully in order to ensure the security of the system behind them.
IOLAN is able to offer a range of solutions from the control environment for this purpose. System interfaces can also be implemented to external card management systems or the customer's back-office systems. The scope and applications must be assessed in order for a sound recommendation to be made for the project. IOLAN readers and modules are operating with worlds standard technologies like Mifare Classic and Mifare DESfire EV-1/EV-3 (and Dutch Rijkspas).
